So, my dog passed away suddenly a couple of weeks ago. I was devastated. I was off work for about a week with a bout of depression and anxiety. It’s crazy to think about how our pets really become beloved members of our families. So I am getting back into a grove and will keep moving forward. This session has been a bit of a challenge but I’m almost there. If all goes well, I plan to graduate in August with my Bachelor’s degree.
I. CAN’T. WAIT! I’m beyond ready to be done with my bachelor’s. While I agree that having an education is very important (and I will be working on my Master’s afterwards), there are aspects of education I just can’t stand.
Oh boy, I feel a rant coming… 🙂
For example, DISCUSSION POSTS. To be frank, I hate them. I feel they add nothing to my experience as a student. Now, I know every teacher reading this is going to completely disagree with me and prove otherwise. However, I have not seen hard facts that discussion posts have really contributed to a student’s performance in their courses.
Looking at discussion posts, the school gives the requirement of 3 posts on 3 separate days. Usually each class has two discussion posts. If you are full time, you have two to three classes at a time you are working on. Now I have to remember to complete a total of 18 discussion posts. Good grief! Especially when half of the students completing them are most likely posting the bare minimum to get their points. Rightfully so, especially for those that go to school full time, have full time jobs, and a family. I am right there with you. I have a full time job, a part time job (so I can pay these crazy loans off), plus I go to school full time. I literally have no time to myself.
To be honest, I would rather read my text book, complete my lab, work a little on my course project (if it’s a group project, shoot me now; they are the WORST), and do a research essay to complete the requirements of the week. Oh, don’t forget about a quiz or test to spice things up a bit. 🙂
So anyways, RANT OVER… 🙂
Here I go! Back to working on my discussion posts for the week for my three classes…
